Beam circulated the ring during more than 60 turns at 0:10 AM.

We succeeded to store the beam at 2:58 PM !

Signal of the beam current transformer (CT) showing the successful beam storage.

After tuning the focusing quadrupoles and the injection magnets, the beam was stored in the storage ring. Many sharp peaks are the signals induced by beam passages. The beam is circulating over more than an injection period (40 msec). Abssissa: time (20 micro sec/division), ordinate: signal intensity (2 mV/division).

Closed orbit distortion (COD) before any correction.

The beam was stored without any correction of the COD. Data was taken at 6:30 PM. Beam current: 1.2 mA.

Vacuum pressure in the storage ring after the beam storage.

Vacuum pressure (log scale: 1E-11 to 1E-7 Torr range) along the PF ring at 3:34 PM. In this initial stage, there is considerable outgas from the vacuum chamber walls even under this small stored current of 3.2 mA. (Note that the base pressure was mostly within 1E-10 to 1E-9 Torr range). Much outgas from the new vacuum ducts (in two normal cell sections) can be seen. The outgas will be gradually reduced during sucessive operation of the ring.
