Questionnaire survey for beamtime request

March 31st, 2011

Dear Spokesperson of a PF experimental proposal,

As a direct consequence of the devastating earthquakes that hit the north-eastern part of Japan on March 11th, a large extent of damages were incurred at KEK including the Photon Factory, therefore, we were obliged to cancel the ring operation for the users' experiments for the period April-July 2011.

We, at the Photon Factory, will make our best efforts to restore the facility as soon as possible in order to resume the user operation again from the autumn quarter of this year, which unfortunately depends on many factors including the electric power supply, scheduled blackouts, KEK-wide restoration timelines etc. Meanwhile, many of the domestic and oversea SR facilities have kindly offered support with beam time for the PF users (See the lists below). If you wish to use any domestic and oversea SR facilities for the period April-July 2011, please fill in the form (EXCEL) and send it back to us by e-mail (pf-sec@pfiqst.kek.jp) by April 5, 2011.

We are exploring various possibilities of securing financial support for travel expenses and utility fees where applicable. Even if we are successful in this endeavor, however,  we expect that the budget will be rather limited and it will be difficult to accommodate all the requests for financial support.

* For the protein crystallography users, please refer to this list (EXCEL)
