●課題の概要
本申請は温度・圧力・磁場・光などの外場条件をパラメータとして、物質の平衡状態のみならず非平衡状態を実時間に沿って精密測定することを特色としており、物質構造の実時間ダイナミクスに基づいて、物性発現の機序、生理活性発現のメカニズムを解明することを目的としている。
本申請では、実時間軸に沿った測定に焦点を絞り、「時間分解回折・散乱」「時間分解分光」および「実時間イメージング」の3つの手法の開拓を重点的に推進する。このような実験計画を遂行する上で、PF-ARの存在は極めて重要である。PF-ARは、世界に類を見ない通年単バンチモード運転を行っており、放射光パルスの時間構造を利用した時間分解実験を集中的かつ包括的に遂行するうえで世界的に見て極めて有利な立場にある。PF-ARは年間4000~5000時間程度の「時間分解」用ビームタイムが確保されており、非常に潤沢なビームタイムが利用可能である。この利点をフルに活用することにより、本申請ではピコ秒より遅い時間領域における物質構造の実時間ダイナミクス研究を重点的に推進する。このような研究は放射光を利用した「非平衡状態の物質構造のダイナミクスに根ざしたサイエンス」を開拓すると同時に、次世代放射光源を利用したフェムト秒オーダーの物質構造ダイナミクス研究を見据えて、そのための基礎的検討としても極めて重要である。
