加速器のR&Dはもちろんの事、XFELOでどのようなサイエンスが開けるか、アイデアを含めて議論する場となっていた。また、PALではXFELのプロジェクトも予算化されて建設が行われており、SASE-XFEL, SEEDED-XFEL, そして XFELOとそれぞれに分類してサイエンスの議論が行われた。
